Teen Counseling
Teen Counseling can help teens improve their overall functioning at home, school, within the family, and with peers/social environment. I have extensive experience working with teenagers, particularly those involved in foster care and juvenile justice systems. Growing up can be difficult, especially given the pressures and challenges of our society.
Adolescent therapy can begin as early as age 11. This form of therapy focuses on building rapport with the teen, addressing familial issues, trauma, school, mood, behaviors, and peer groups. Since I work from a lens of Family Systems Theory, I engage with both teen and their parents/caregivers in a hybrid Individual-Family therapy session setup.
Teen counseling treatment can vary case by case, and can be continued beyond the average 12-week therapy treatment timeframe considering the added family sessions.
